Seasonal Selections: February 2019

Seasonal Selections

Spring is right around the corner, but not here yet! February is a month that boasts a blend of seasonal beer options that bridge the gap between Winter and Spring. Depending on brewery release schedules, plenty still launch heavier beers that are great for the cold days left while others are springing ahead (ha.) and showing the world what new and juicy warm-weather beers they have in their arsenal.

Cape May Sawyer’s Swap

Barleywine | 9.6% ABV

Cape May Brewing Company has put out some incredible beers in the past couple of years. This February they are dropping a limited/ small batch barleywine called Sawyer’s Swap. This complex beer delivers a great blend of malts and hops with the bonus of having it aged for two months leading up to the release. At 9.6%, Sawyer’s Swap is going to be a beer you might only have one of, but it is a tasty seasonal that is perfect for February, and something you won’t want to miss!

Great Lakes Chillwave

Double IPA | 9.0% ABV

Great Lakes is known for their outstanding beers across tons of different styles. Chillwave is another consistent offering from the brewery and gives beer lovers a home run of a double IPA. With mosaic hops leading the way, Chillwave boasts a blend of earthy and tropical flavors with a sweet side from the honey malt used. This beer is bold but absolutely hits the spot and can be paired nicely with everything from meat entrees to desserts!

Allagash Sun Drift

Pale Ale | 6.7% ABV

Allagash is a classic brewery that has put out plenty of juicy brews throughout the years. This year the company is putting out a new and unique beer called Sun Drift, which the brewery describes as, “ale with lemon zest and black tea.” The lemon zest gives this beer a citrus flavor that brings tartness, but in combination with the black tea, it turns Sun Drift into an Arnold Palmer-esque beer. At 6.7% this beer has a bit of a kick but isn’t going to be knocking your socks off with a single bottle, which makes it perfect for a long, cool Spring day.
