Happy Pride Month! After most Pride events were cancelled last year, the LGBTQ+ community and their allies are ready to celebrate. And from hard seltzer to craft, the beer industry is standing by to show their support and help get the party started. Read on for just a few of the things that breweries are doing to rep the LGBTQ+ community this June.
Samuel Adams has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community, spreading a message of hope, love and inclusion through beer via events, special releases and campaigns. The brewery is a proud member of the Business Coalition for the Equality Act, a group that supports federal legislation to provide the same basic protections to LGBTQ+ individuals as provided to other groups under federal law.
And in 2021, the brewery is teaming up with another leading American craft brewer, New Belgium Brewing, to continue their work and “share the love” by co-producing Love Conquers Ale, Samuel Adams’ hallmark Pride beer recipe in a taproom-only limited release.
As part of this partnership, during the month of June, Samuel Adams and New Belgium will donate 100% of the purchase price of the co-brewed Love Conquers Ale directly to GLAAD, a leading nonprofit organization working to accelerate acceptance and advance equality for the LGBTQ+ community.
“We knew we had to do something powerful this year to bring the meaning behind Love Conquers Ale to life,” says Carissa Sweigart, Leader of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at The Boston Beer Company. “We couldn’t think of a better brewer to share such a personal and special recipe with than New Belgium Brewing – a team with a long standing history supporting the LGBTQ community. By co-brewing Love Conquers Ale together, we hope to spread unity, love and togetherness to even more people. And we’re proud to continue to support the important work of our partners at GLAAD, who are at the forefront of change, as we celebrate our peers as members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Truly has been a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community for years, and in 2021, Truly will celebrate Pride with the second year of the brand’s #TrulyProud social campaign. The campaign will continue Truly’s commitment to allyship by shining the spotlight on LGBTQ+ content creators, who will share their #TrulyProud stories on Truly’s channels throughout June.
Truly will build on their commitment to inclusivity during Pride Month with incremental displays, POS and merch to support features and events.
This June, Lagunitas is reminding consumers that there’s a seat at their bar for everyone. Along with releasing Pride-themed merch and POS like rainbow sunglasses and tap handle DIY wraps, the brewery has pledged to donate $10,000 to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to support the organization’s culture-changing work to accelerate acceptance for the LGBTQ community.
