Taste Test: Abita Stratosbeer

Abita Stratosbeer

Brut IPAs are taking the beer world by storm! And lucky for us, more and more breweries are making the champagne-esque beer style. While Louisiana’s Abita Brewing Company is well-known for their classic brews such as Purple Haze and Turbodog, the brewery is one of the more recent to offer their take on the style with Stratosbeer Brut IPA.

Abita Stratosbeer pours with a big, white head and tons of bubbles floating throughout the glass, giving the beer a champagne look. While Stratosbeer is very dry, the combination of Idaho 7, Simcoe and Apollo hops provides delicious, fruit-forward flavors that are complemented by piney notes in the background. Stratosbeer has low bitterness, which keeps it light and smooth for another unique entry into the brut IPA category. Packed full of flavor, at 7% ABV Stratosbeer is very crushable. So be careful, just a few might send you into the stratosphere!
